I purchased on 10 march 2009. Very superb clarity and I plug in to Home theatre with Mind Blowing Sound.
I purchased for 1750rs with scheme of 3 month value package free.
vaisey aacha hai, but when you change the channel and you came accross with the message ” THIS CHANNEL IS NOT SUBSCRIBED” , it irritates alot.
Anyway, My good experience with airtel.

i have taken airtel connection in ahmedabad. and one thing more.. even when you remove the view card.. you can atleast see the channels in quick view tv. I think one can find hack for the same very soon
dish tv wake up if you have’nt got NDTV METRO NATION as yet. Your subscribers would be leaving you and moving on to Tata sky which has this amazing channel for people to know what’s happening in Delhi and the NCR !!! My neighbours friends and I are seriously thinking of switching over to Tata sky. Please post your comments on this.

we have 11 channels of malayalam including shalom and 5 sports channels inculding dd sports for current sports events. and we give 5 months free with sports and that too with 72 cm larger dish for states like kerala where in monsoon stay for longer period. it is abosolutely suitable for kerala.
11 malayalam channels ( asianet,asianet plus,asianet news, surya, kiran,manorama news, amrita tv,kairali, kairali we, indiavision, shalom. )

As in many ppl have tugs of war with the cable operators..this includes the aged group as well..now a days Sri Sankara channel is becoming popular among this group as well spiritually inclined ppl. when we need to turn to the dish antenna type none of them are offering this channel, we could be happy if u could add this channel also in some package so that we would willingly become the dish antenna’s customers rather than fighting wars with the cable operators
Is there are forum at Airtel or for that matter any DTH to request them to add a new channel into their package? Sri Sankara Channel is being one of the free to air channel. Still Airtel is not providing them as part of any of their package.

AIRTEL CHEATS YOU IN CABLE EXTRA LENGTH. IN THEIR STANDARD INSTALLATION, THEY GIVE ONLY 24 METERS, IN CASE OF HD-DVR. THE INSTALLATION GUYS TOLD ME THAT, I REQUIRE 48 METERS, WHICH I DOUBTED WITH A COMMON SENSE, THAT MY CONNECTION LENGTH COULD NOT BE THAT MUCH. THEY ASKED ME TO PAY FOR THE EXTRA 24 METERS, WHICH I REFUSED AND TOOK A STANDARD MEASURING TAPE AND SHOWED HIM THAT IT REQUIRE ONLY 28 METERS. IN THEIR CABLE MARKINGS THEY SHOWED ME 48 METERS, I SAID THEIR CABLE MARKING ARE WRONG AND PROVED WITH THE STANDARD MEASURING TAPE, THEY HAVE MARKED FOR AROUND 80 CMS, AS 1 METER LENGTH!!!!!, I ESCALATED TO MANY LEVELS AT CUSTOMERCARE AND SALES, HOW AIRTEL CHEATS THEIR CUSTOMER. THIS MEANS THAT IF THEY GET 2 MTS IN EVERY 10 METER CABLE LENGTHY THEY MAKE RS:24, AND IF YOU REQUIRE AROUND 100 METERS OR 200 METERS FOR A HD-DVR CONNECTION (REQUIRE 2 CABLES), 20 OR 40 METERS THEY CHEAT ON CABLES, 240 OR 480 (YOU PAY FOR NOTHING, 1 METER THEY CHARGE RS: 12). SO, GUESS, IF THEY GIVE 10 LAKHS CONNECTION ALL OVER INDIA IN A FEW MONTHS AND AVERAGE 100 OR 200 PER CUSTOMER, THEY MAKE CRORES JUST BY CHEATING ON THE CABLE MEASUREMENT MARKINGS!!!

Recently, for migration airtel staff removed antenna and refixed it. After that within 2 months, there is small rain and no signals are coming…signal interruption. I tried removing all connected cables and put back again (even did remove card and inserted back) as primary step from myself. Still Signal interruption problem is there.
On 27th-Jun, I called customer care and complained the same. They said, i have to pay Rs100/- for engineer. Next day, engineer came and there was no power. So, he did nothing (nothing is corrected) and insisted to give him Rs100/- even problem is not corrected. We didnt give that as problem not correcteted.
Next day, engineer didnt come at all. I called customer care again, they said service request raised is closed, without verifying with the customer, whether problem solved or not.
And as I asked, they raised new complaint again. At the same time, i complained on engineer, as he demanded Rs100/- even problem not corrected (we will have detial discussion about thid Rs100/- furthur). So, to correct problem, this time they said, they will solve it by next day and took alternative contact number also (as they have my registered number as primary). We are not sure, whether they called or not, but there were missed calls on primary number later (as in home they couldnt attend some calls due to some busyness). Hoping (thinking) that airtel engineers called, as they didnt reach customer on primary number, they should have tried calling alternate number that they took. But they didnt call on it…Simply they didnt turnup at all that next day also.
And 3rd time again, i called customer care (next day), they said, engineer will come and reach and we have to pay Rs100/-. They say after i bought connection, now warranty period is over and i have to pay Rs100/-.
My questions:

Rs100/- may not be a matter. But why should customer pay it. If we talk about any inside equipment damage or so.., then ok, aggreable, as warranty is over, we will pay the charges. But thats not case with the signal. We monthly pay for channels what we have to get and iam sure we are paying more than enough to get those channels. And its airtel’s responsibility to make sure that there is no signal interruption. For doing their duty, they want us to pay??…Is company not paying engineers, and so are they taking money from customers.
Customer is paying more money for each channelto get on monthly basis, still if signal is interrupted because of rains (it will be basically as they didnt fix , during migration in my case, properly.) , customer has to pay again 100 rupees, And they say that for that Rs100/- only one month is the warranty.
In such a case, an engineer will fix in such a way that if small rain comes signals will go off. And assume for a single customer they are taking Rs 100/-, that too because of airtel incapability to maintain strong signal relation, how muach money in total with all customers they are looting. I basically was having good opinion once(though they chrge more), but simply can not encourage this bribe aort of activity of engineers taking money from customers for doing what they are supposed to do.Any physical equipment inside my home, if damaged, I agree….after warranty period we will pay and avail services accordingly.
But this is highly ridiculous if thats the case when signal is not proper.
Can some one from airtel higher management, take this up seriously and act on this please.
Engineers taking money (and more pathetic thing is its company policy, as they said) from customers for engineer’s visit to correct signals (for changing antenna directions properly) is really bad thing.
