January 15th, 2007 at 11:29 pm I’ve got the similar e-mails, once on 21 Dec and then on 15 Jan 2007.
I’ve spoken to a Dish TV customer service excetuve who categorically confirmed that such e-mails are fraud. Dish TV has never sent such an e-mail.
January 16th, 2007 at 3:09 am I think lots of people have fallen prey to this spam. Sending the scan copy of your credit cards, you are bound to loose many thousands. So just don’t do such stupid things. If you have done so, talk to your bankers to cancel your card or at least stop any such transactions. Also you can raise a dispute / claim to PayPal to recover any money if you have paid through credit card.

May 12th, 2007 at 11:46 am I myself am a DishTV subscriber and have received the above e-mail. I was immediately suspicious of the E-mail.The main reason being the clearly visible typos in the E-mail (like ‘broadcaste’). I decided to look deeper and so checked a bit into the full header of the e-mail. Guess what ???
The e-mail hasn’t been sent from the original DishTv site, rather it was from a dummy site. In reality the message was being delivered through a site “ICPBOUNCE.com”.
This clearly is a scam, but what makes it even more worrying is the fact that the people behind have successfully got hold of the consumer email-id list of DishTV.
I have already sent the Dishtv customer care a message about this scam and a probable leak in their security. But haven’t heard anything from them yet ….
