New Channels coming in March

Most, if not all, of the new channels on Dialog TV are slated to be launched in March 2008.

There is a high possibility of new channels being launched tomorrow itself (1st of March).

Channel C, a channel broadcasting Sri Lankan music videos 24/7, is confirmed to launch tomorrow on Dialog TV. This channels is supposed to replace Zee Muzic temporarily.

Charging for local pay channels.

March 2008 will be the last month in which CiTi HiTz will be available for all Dialog TV subscribers free of charge. From April onwards the channel will cost an additional Rs 50/= for all packages. Now from tomorrow "Channel C" is expected to go on air. How much will this be priced at? We can expect the channel to available free of charge for a couple of months hopefully.

Pay television is a developing industry in Sri Lanka and these channels should be used to lure customers and charging additional for these channels will only drive away prospective customers. CiTi HiTz is priced unrealistically, not many people will pay extra for that channel. This channel should be integrated into the existing packages. The same applies for "Channel C" since charging extra will not work.

In other news rumors indicate that certain new channels will be available by hopefully tomorrow 1st March.

In other news, The Buddhist and Shruti Television now have complete EPG.

The Buddhist channel EPG loads very fast, and I wonder if this is becuase Dialog has made some changes to settings or because the channel is free-to-air.

So it is the 2nd of March. Where are the new channels and the 4 TP. When is the launch of 4 TP.

The information being received as of now are all utterly messed up. So nobody except Dialog TV knows what is going on.

Some suggest that MPEG 4 is launching around May 2008 or later. Others say that the channel launch is just delayed.

I reckon dialog tv will finish the MPEG2 decordes with the promotional offers. Then they will make TP4 with MPEG4 and will add new set of good channels. After that they will bring in the MPEG4 decorders and start selling them for new customes with higher subscription. The old subscribers will have to upgrade their old MPEG2 decorder for a sum of money if they want to see the new channels in MPEG4. I think that is the game plan of Dialog TV. We will waite and see.
