Very soon Airtel and Videocon are Launching their DTH services. While Airtel would be finalising franchisees, Videocon is keen to market it through It retail Chain store 'Next' and its existing dealers. They might also appoint franchisees for the same, but no info on that yet.
A very high profile official in AIRTEL has told me that they have begun finalising franchisees and recruiting iti/diploma holders for their field work.
Also I've been told that they wud be using MPEG4 (MP4) Technology for broadcasting channels.
So BIG TV has to watchout.
Well time will tell how true this info. gets.
is any one know when would be bharti airtel will launch their services if you have a right information then pls reply

Airtel DTH (I hope this is the official name) will most probably be using INSAT-4CR (74° E). And we still don't know whether they will be using MPEG-2 or MPEG-4.
As the current MPEG-4 proponents SunDirect & Reliance Big TV are using DVB-S2 but are actually using MPEG-2 in their Transport Stream (TS) which does not classify them as true MPEG-4 service.
As per my info it would be using MPEG-4 Transport channel.

Sun dth and Reliance uses MPEG4 in DVBS1 and not S2 as you said. This makes them MPEG4. Who are us to classify them?
