AS CONFIRMED BY DIALOG

A letter has been sent out to premium package customers requesting a date for the Dialog TV staff to visit and fix a new MPEG-4 decoder. A reply should be sent before the 25th of August. Dialog will begin fixing the new decoders during September.

As given in the letter, from September 1st onwards all HBO channels and STAR Movies will be available only in MPEG-4 format. New channels such as Baby TV, Channel NewsAsia and E! Entertainment Television will also be introduced during September.

Meanwhile there has also been an OTA (over-the-air) Software Upgrade recently. It is unknown whether this was for both current decoders or only one of them.

Lets hope for some new entertaiment soon!

Dialog's picture quality at present is like youtube video. Worst. Those so called international channels like 'baby' etc., are craps. It is very costly compared to our services.

Dialog tv is a Shinhala service. At the most they will add few Tamil channels and there ends.

Do I see signs of Racism? Actually Dialog is more interested in money than race, so anyway they will add Tamil-language channels just to attract customers.

Your claims about Dialog TV's picture quality being bad are true. But not as bad as YouTube videos (for now). DTV has around 720x576 resolution while YouTube has 320x200-odd resolution. So YouTube will look worse on a normal CRT TV.

Also, most of Dialog's international channels are not crap. HBO, STAR Movies Asia do not have advertisements during movies and get new movies before their Indian counterparts. Good family-friendly channels like Hallmark are yet unavailable in India.

And have you seen Baby TV to see if its crap? I haven't, so I won't say such things. Anyway kids channels are not very interesting for adults.

Yes, Asian feeds are more expensive than Indian, but they are worth the price. Personally, I do not want to pay to see advertisements on TV. I pay to watch less interrupted programs. Unfortunately Indian channels are too dedicated to advertisement money.

I get this feeling that you are bashing Dialog due to racism, not because of the real reasons. There are plenty of good reasons to blame Dialog, but you have only mentioned one and even that is partially incorrectly. Please do not bring racism and possibly terrorism to this forum. We like all Dialog TV customers, regardless of race or religion, to discuss their issues here peacefully.
May I suggest to Dialog that they introduce the Asian Food Channel, Universal Channel and Sci Fi Channel.

Many of the programs on Hallmark have been transferred to Universal, like Law and Order SVU. Universal also shows some good programs and with less ads than STAR World.
Sci Fi shows Battlestar Gallactica, Heroes and some other programs.
AFC shows, of course, food-related programs of all around the world (not only Asia).

No racisms. It is a srilankan dth made for srilankan people. How can we expect them to add more Indian channels? That too Tamil channels? That is why I said 'don't expect more from that'. Even in India we don't get many Tamil channels in DTH. Then how can we expect something from Srilanaka? It is wrong to expect them to add many Indian channels.
