hii everyone... i was very curious about the big tv STB model -2 ... i thought its nice.. due to the presence of SPDIF digital audio slot... so i played with my STB model 1 and screwed it up 
.. then i took it to the CC ... and then by many requests i finally changed it with the brand new STB model -2 ...
so here it is... this model is great... it is very very smooth... not lyk STB model 1... in which if u scroll up and down in the settings menu or in the guide then it used to go slowly... whereas in model 2 it is really smooth.. it never hangs... although the software version is same... but i think it has more processing power... the select option is also working very fast and everything opens faster.. but u knw... big tv ppl... everything is not nice...
the main problem is that the sound quality is not great... everytime i hear a sound like sssss .. just like a radio playing with low signal... its very bad... looks like i m watching cable tv ...
if u knw any solution of this then pls reply... otherwise the STB is great ... 
yes u r right..The sound problem is same in STB 1 and also in Cable STb... it is giving Sssssssssss....noise...
hey ladykiller, can u please post some screenshots?? is the user interface the same? is there heating problem?
[i]yup.. the userinterface is just the same and heating problem is there... everything is same.. the difference is that its a little bit fast... consider STB model 1 to be pentium 3 and STB model 2 to be pentium 4
for comparison.. everthing else is same...
and for screenshot.. i cant bcoz i have lost the datacable ov my phone.. lolz.... but u can get the screenshots from another thread in this forum...
and about the ssssss problem... it was not there with my STB model 1 ... any method to remove it??? pls tell

do one thing....keep the tv volume fixed to a high level and change volume only with your bigtv remote...and try not to take your bigtv volume bar more than 75%...did that help? try it...
[i]it didn't help .. bcoz if i increase the volume of tv then sssssssss sound comes.. even if i mute my stb... the solution is that i make my stb at full volume and set volume with my tv... but to do that.. i'll have to play with two remotes... and that too wont be a perfect solution.... i want absolutely zero sssss sound.. that used to come in my STB model 1.. bcoz without that.. whats the benefit of having dth???
yeah and also.. my stb model 2 is showing signal strength 98 % and signal quality 69% whereas in stb model 1 ... it used to be lyk signal strength 100% and quality 98% with the same set of wires and dish.... although the quality of video is same i guess.... any one knows the solution???

i took a one STB for test purpose ( I am a BIG TV Retailer)
Model 2 STB Restarts on every 15 minutes and menu opprating is verry slow if i change channel continuously STB hangs
there no difference in Model 1 and Model 2 except SPDIF out
i thing model 2 STB is the
worst STB
friends dont go for Model 2 STB
if anybody used a model 2 STB please share you experience

could you pls let me know, is there any STB for PCs, as i am having a PC with big LCD monitor, that i wantedly use for watching television also, can i use BIG tv for my PC.

i think that u must be having a faulty STB model 2 ... my retailer also told me that its faulty... but it is not.. infact it is superior ... and there's no restart problem.. my TV runs for almost 5 hours continously and there's no restart problem....
Well let me tell something.
The sound which you get like sssss is not problem with STB or yout TV or from brodcasting end. It is something depends on connection cables. I don't know much about cables but someone posted solution last month and he suggesting somthing about cable. So on your experince STB 2 is looking good.
But I want to tell you that all STB is working find but those STB which are faulty is just because of BIG TV's selection of choice which is not good one. If someone told STB1 is bad then I want to say that my stb is working find since we have better quality STB made in 2007 and got in May when I took connection. But you had problem with it.
Their new STB which made by China is comming from next month and they also have new STB from Kaon ( Dish TV knows about it) is also ready to start. So new customer will get proper STB.
For us, we have 1 year warranty so we can change our STB anytime during 1 year.
