NEW DELHI: Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) has inked a distribution deal with Kabel Deutschland (KDG) to expand the footprint of Animax in Germany.
Speaking on the new deal SPTI Networks Germany general manager Guenther Pickersaid, "We are pleased to further extend Animax throughout Germany via our distribution agreement with KDG. The channel has gained increased momentum since its launch last year. Now reaching more than one million households is an important milestone for us. We will continue to explore further opportunities for Animax including delivery of the channel across multiple platforms."
From the end of November this year, Animax will be available on KDG's Kabel Digital Home package, further adding to its present availability on digital cable and satellite systems; Unitymedia and Premiere Star and over IPTV.
“With Animax, we have an attractive new channel for our portfolio, which is unique for German TV. I am delighted that we are now able to carry forward our successful cooperation with SPTI. Animax is the second Sony Pictures channel to be aired on our platform alongside AXN”, added KDG senior VP content and product management - cable TV Florian Landgraf.
With the signing of the new deal, the channel's total number of subscriber households in Germany has expanded to more than one million.
Animax presently features programmes such as Ghost in the Shell, Final Fantasy: Unlimited and Gundam Seed, which is targeted at the age group between 14-29 years.
