AUSSIE speedster Brett Lee is planning to play on the Bollywood music pitch. The fast bowler, who is also famous as a rocker back home, and his band partner have composed a song for Harman Baweja’s upcoming flick, Victory . Apart from revealing his musical side in the film, Lee will also play a cameo role in the film, directed by debutant Ajit Pal. “ Talks are on with the crew of Victory to include the number that I have written and composed with my band partner as the theme song for the film,” Lee says. The affable cricketing star was a member of an Aussie band called Six and Out for over six years and is now creating his own band with a close friend. Lee is yet to figure out a name for his two- member band. “ My stint with Six and Out has been enjoyable. But I need to have my own band. I had to quit Six and Out because of my hectic schedule as a cricketer. Coming together to perform with the rest of the band was becoming a problem,” he says. Lee plans to release an album by the end of 2008. “ We are not revealing things as yet. But we hope to announce the details soon.” Lee says he enjoyed playing himself in the cameo in the Manmohan Shetty- produced Victory . “ Working in the movie was fun as I just had to play myself. I enjoyed the whole experience. We used to play a lot of cricket on the sets and my co- stars got many cricketing tips from me,” he gushes. Lee’s Aussie teammates Michael Hussey, Brad Hogg and Stuart Clark also have cameos in the film. The cricket star, who represents Preity Zinta’s Kings XI Punjab in the IPL, is clearly floored by his boss. “ She is a wonderful actress. I have seen a few of her films,” he grins. But Lee insists that his Bollywood debut is a one- off case. “ Besides Victory , I am not doing any other movie,” he said. On his tryst with music, he said: “ I am a music lover. I love listening to everything from Metallica to Backstreet Boys. Music is a stress buster for me and at the end of a busy day I play an instrument or listen to good music to lift my spirits.” What does he do when he has free time? “ My home is the ultimate holiday destination for me.” |
