Big TV price slashed now availabe at. Rs.1490/-

With the festive season around the corner, direct-to-home (DTH) companies are leaving no stone unturned to increase their subscription base. Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) owned Reliance Big TV has slashed the subscription price by Rs 1,000 and now stands at Rs 1,490 from the earlier Rs 2,500. This includes installation charges and three months subscription. Arun Kapoor, president, Big TV admitted, “It is a land grab game.” The company will launch its digital video recorder (DVR)-enabled set-top boxes (STBs) by December and is expected to be priced at Rs 6,500-7,000. The company has already placed an order for 2,50,000 STBs with the Korean company Hyundai and the first consignment of 25,000 STBs has already been received. It has 160 GB in-built hard disk that can record up to 100 hours of programming.

[align=left]MUMBAI: The fight for customers is being fought by direct-to-home (DTH) operators on price. Barely two months old, Reliance Communications' Big TV has brought down the entry price of its service by Rs 1000 to Rs 1490.

The offer includes installation and a three-month free subscription. The package, providing for 64 channels, also includes one month free subscription video-on-demand (Svod). Earlier, customers had to pay an installation charge of Rs 1000.

Says Big TV president Arun K Kapoor, “This very special festive offer, valid for a limited period, will further accelerate the growth momentum by making DTH services more affordable and appealing to the 125 million TV Households in the country. The package includes Star, Sony and ESPN Star Sports' channels.”


Big TV has also introduced a new price point at Rs 2190. The offer will have free subscription for 12 months and Svod for three months. "Since the customers under this scheme are being tied up for a longer period, we are offering Svod free for three months. The channel offerings will be similar to the Rs 1490 scheme," says Kumar.

For the six-month premium pack of 99 channels, Big TV has cut down the price from Rs 2990 to Rs 2690. The offer will include 120 movies free.

Under the Rs 100 monthly subscription scheme for free-to-air channels, Big TV has added 10 pay channels including Star and Sony.

Says Kapoor, “These festive offers are in line with the tradition of Reliance ADAG to offer best value to our customers. Besides value pricing, Big TV also offers superior service quality based on the latest MPEG4 technology platform at affordable price points which would expand the market size besides enhancing value for our stakeholders.”

They are just fooling the customer this is not a price slash even they have reduced the free subscription offer as well from 12 month to 3 months so in this new offer you have to pay Rs.900 extra as 9 months remaining subscriptionj to complete one year subscription.

So if you calculate customer will end up paying the same amount as previously but in new offer they are on loss of free movies on demand which is also less in new offer.

Dear Saurabh_G brother please help me
I plan to buy big tv on diwali as u say in previous offer we get 12 month free subscription offer but big tv website show from launch of Big tv in Rs. 2490/= we will get 3 month preimum pack or 6 month popular pack, one regional pack with 3 month BIG Cinema Monthly Subscription Pack there are no 12 month free offer ???

Yes the 12 months free period is not available now its 3 or 6 months

However you could take 2990 pack its available with 12 months popular pack free subs

The 2990 pack is also comming with slashed price now you will get the same package @ Rs 2690..
