amatan Wrote:There are lot of bands like L, S, C, Ku, Ka and so on. Of that there are tv tranmissions in C & Ku. Worldspace radio is in L and few tv channels are in S band.
Picture quality depends upon the commpression they use. Ku & C doesn't matter. Normally those FTA channels in C band are little better than they are in DTH. This is because of too much compression in the dth.
Yes in other countries too they use small dish like 60cms and even 30cms for DTH and Ku receptions.

Thanks for the information. You have a good knowledge on TV transmission. Are you anyway related professionally to Digital TV or it's just your hobby. (For me it's both partially)

You need to buy another stb. There is "Diseqc" like switch but it is for connecting two or more receivers. But that will need dual output lnbs.

RE: c-band channel list
We get more than 200 channels which are FTA from C band.
I have one dish, 10ft diameter.
I have 3 C band + 1 Ku band LNB fixed to it...

The satellites which i receive atart at INSAT3E till ASIASAT 3S..

These 3 LNBs are generally pointed o THAICOM, INSAT2E/3B/4A, PAS8/10 (its renamed but 68.5 E) and Ku band for DD dth+DISH tv..

May be all know here, but like the Ku band LNBs can catch H and V polarised beams.. C band also has similar LNBs.. U will not require turn the LNB for H/V channels again and again...

If u r setting up a new dish.. i suggest u to go for those DUAL C band.
Note that old type of feedhorns had 2 LNBs for H and V beams,, hence 2 cables coming from dish. The LNB which i have mentioned will have single cable..this will save u on a swith or will keep one option left in DISEQC switch...

Hope this helps u!!!

RE: c-band channel list
Dual output LNB??? I think the switch u mentioned is POWER DIVIDER..which will devide the signal into two and take care that the current from both receivers doesn't burn the LNB!!

alternatively, If u r sure that both receivrs will be ON together.. u can take the "LOOP OUT" connection to the second receiver...

If u are asking "TWO TVs" and not "TWO receivers".. its simple... as the cable guy does..

Why I said Dual output is because if one watches H and other watches V pol tps then how? Loop out can be used but still he needs dual lnb. You are right about power divider. Actually I forgot its name.

RE: c-band channel list
When u say dual LNB i remember old style feed horns which carried two LNBs. One for H and another for V..

There is one LNB available which catches H as well as V beams together.. No need to have two LNB in one direction..Very similar to Ku Univarsal LNB.. If u r also speaking about the same...good we are in same boat.

In the kind of LNB i told... two people can watch H and V beamed channels at any same instant of time..

If u have diseqC( say 1= INSAT, 2=Ku, 3=Thaicom..) and two receivers
its not possible to access signals of different satellites at same instant. To achive this two receivers will have to have separate diseqc.. and 2/4/6 power dividers..

Ok..it becomes complex... can buy a new dish!!! But if both access same satellite, then its nor complex.

I said Dual out lnb (lnb with 2 output ports)so that we can receive both H & V at the same time in different receivers. But we need power divider. This is for one satellite. If we want mulitple satellites then it will go complicated. As you said it would be easy to have many dishes or better be content with one receiver.
