WIN CABLE CAS REVIEW

Just checked out the WIN Cable CAS.

Intro-

The set top box is black in colour and is bigger than Incable set top box. It DVB certified.It has channel change, voloume buttons on it and 'OK' button on it.
The remote is small and equipped with all common buttons that are found on other set top box remote.

Picture Quality-

EXCELLENT! I was totally impressed with the picture quality. I viewed it on a 29 inches Samsung flat TV and there was no pixelation noticable. It is truely DVD-like. Only I found only 1 channels i.e TV 5 Asie which had disturbance. Only twice I found out disturbance on some channels which was fixed by restarting the device.

Sound quality-

It sounded good on the TV speakers and can be called CD quality.

Channels-
There are 165 channels including pay and free-to-air ones currently available in Digital picture quality and sound. Even 2 cable movie channels are included in it.There are some 80 analog free to air channels in inferior quality.The pay channels are for Rs 5 each and free to air channels are for 120. There are all channels from Zee , Sony , DD and Star boquet. I was surprised to see even Neo Sports and Neo Sports Plus was included.
Only Euro News, Trace TV and Boomerang were missing.

Other Facilties-

The are 2 language options for cartoon network, Disney and Discovery.
There are 24 radio channels present. There are few games. There is provision for Interactive(but it is not yet started) and the EPG works for only some channels only at prime time.

Conclusion-

The Set Top Box is available at Rs 1300 only and there is no need for any other external wiring, the existing cable connection is sufficiant.
So this is currently worth if you are staying in CAS area and you can choose only what you want to see. In non-CAS area with the set top box you can see all channels at existing cable rate.

CAS do sounds good, and can give tough fight to DTH if maintained & handled professionally

New broom sweeps good. Please wait and see over time. CAS is bogged with an external service man, the problems one had(has) with cable service are bound to continue.

Picture Quality:-

Well DTH service provide have some problem on 5 to 6 channels on both DTH service but this could happen becaus eof less transpoder while CAS system oprator have no problem to get good feed without any compression but DTH still have good quality than others. Just need space.


Sound quality-

Well DTH sound system have some problems on few channels but not bad as cable operator have.

Channels-
Well we have also 161 channels on Dish Tv and more than 100 on Tatasky. Our price is less than 3 Rs/channels. We have more pay channels than CAS. We don't need to pay 5Rs per channel even have to watch all channels. New channels added freely on DTH service.

Other Facilties-
-> Hindi feed for NGC,History,Cartoon Network,Pogo,Disny,Toon disny,Nick,Discovery channal.
-> Toon dish have Telugu and Tamil feed.
-> 8 games for kids.
-> EPG guide added on almost 95% on Dish TV.
-> Active services.

So overall DTH system is still better than other system in India despite of short facility.

Yes I agree that DTH provides active services which CAS is currently not providing. But I have checked the picture quality of Tata Sky and I can say that CAS provides much better picture quality and the even initial cost is less.So I still feel CAS is currently better.

Well I agee with you but this is because you get feed from direct company's feed and less compressed one while DTH players have to compress their channels in limited space. If DTH players gets more TP in future you can get best quality on DTH too.,

yes Yam I totally agree with you. CAS in cable TV system is better sytem available today. Just think the bandwidth available in cable TV. You can provide Broadband, VOD. etc. in Cable TV. CAS thru Cable is ultimate for common people.

Well I have always problem with DTH operator for not giving us good receiver.
They should provide us with good receiver. For that we are ready to pay also.
Some body want Zenega or Kaon they should provide them also.
So what I want to say is keep two catagory Normal and good.
And give option to customer what they want.

Well you can approch Apnadish.com because they also distribute Dish Tv's STB and they have approvement from Dish TV. Try to contact them.

But as far as I know there no site like Apnadish.com.
However I will check later on and will inform you.
Mean while if you get any information inform please.
