You could use composite cable for component. However as component requires 5 cables (3 video cables and 2 audio cables) you will be able to get video only. For audio you will have to use two seperate cables.

Yes the quality will be affected especially in cinema channels which are totally DVD quality.
The reason is the build quality of composite cables mostly available in the market are not good as of best component cables available

I am a DTH expert. That doesnt mean that I would endorse that DTH and hide true cons about it

Well in Big Tv stb there are no seperate audio ports for component and composite. They share common audio ports . So it will not require any special cables for audio as output quality is same for composite and component .

Set the the Tv display to 16:9(it does not affect the output of the component connector, its just the screen ratio, which you should choose for LCD TV otherwise the images will look fatty on the LCD)

Dont forget to select the source on LCD TV to the component input on which the cables are connected

well let me tell u that BIG tv is not giving any channels in 16:9 mode, even though u connect it via component cable and choose the 16:9 mode and confirm the settings.

as far as the audio its just stereo sound and not dolby.

well i say and and a whole lot of other people who are discussing in various other forums.
now i dont know what u have seen in reliance webworld or in ur friends house, but i have spoken to the big tv CC they dont even know what is 16:9 mode, when i had them escalate the matter and explaining them what a 16:9 mode is they finaly admitted that the 16:9 doesnt work.

and if u want proof i can upload the picture which shows the signal is 4:3 ,also the sony lcd which i have would have also adjust the image if it was a 16:9 mode signal.
