Component output?
Y'day went to a Reilance world in Chennai, to look at the BigTV demo and shocked to see a very poor picture quality. They had a Samsung 40" LCD TV connected. They guy who is supposed to give demo doesn't know anything, and I asked him why he did not use component output, he says, "what is meant by that??" ... I showed him output pins, he said those doesn't work!!
I have played with the set-top box settings, I could find any clue about the Video settings... Does anyone have connected their LCD TV via component video?? Could anyone able to make comparision on composite vs component video from the Big TV STB on to the same TV?? |

RE: Component output?
Well you can set your video setting from Setting menu where you have option for choosing 16:11 mode. So you can change it from 4:3 to 16:11. It is best for LCD TV and I seen same settings in Surat Web World.
Web worl people have no idea and it is useless to ask him even they not know their satellite name MeaSat 3 ![]() I have Onida TV and picture quality in 4:3 is excellent here. Free Indian Classifieds-Meramaal.com |

Also when you check demo do check channels 205 to 218 and 503 to 508 in Demo mod to get idea about their picture quality on LCD TV. Video quality is not depends on mode it is depends on DTH opertors and brodcasters. Sometimes Brodcaster provide not clear feed and sometimes due to DTH opertors compression system make picture not good. As from BIG TV user I can say quality is far better then other DTH. RE: Component output?
Component output is working, just connect the LCD with a really good pair of Component cable, you will get the output. Set the the Tv display to 16:9(it does not affect the output of the component connector, its just the screen ratio, which you should choose for LCD TV otherwise the images will look fatty on the LCD)
Dont forget to select the source on LCD TV to the component input on which the cables are connected I am a DTH expert. That doesnt mean that I would endorse that DTH and hide true cons about it |

RE: Component output?
Thanks everyone for your ideas and information...
I have been using 37" LCD and have only composite input used so far (from Dish TV STB). I have fine tuned by LCD settings very well enough to get the maximum out from a composite signal. Now I wanted to go for BiG TV, only for the reason that it is having the Component output, which I wanted to make sure is working well before buying... :-) I hope to expect a better picture quality, but it would be nice to know if anyone had LCD-composite have upgraded to BigTV LCD-Component?? Or should I be the guinea pig... :-) Dish said... Video quality is not depends on mode it is depends on DTH opertors and brodcasters. Sometimes Brodcaster provide not clear feed and sometimes due to DTH opertors compression system make picture not good. I fully agree, but I feel it is the responsbility of DTH operators to get a quality feed... Otherwise they should not advertise as DVD quality pictures.. Am I right? Also in my present Dish TV, the volume leves across the channels are very different and are going up and down too much when changing channels and even within the same channel (like the advt sound level is very high compared to the programmes).... I think the DTH operators should do the volume levelling... or should ask the channel broadcasters to level the volume.... btw, how is the Big TV DTH volumes??? Is it going up and down?? |

Well atleast you will feel changes in BIG TV Picture quality which all BIG TV users telling after watching it and you will be sure DVD quality. Also Sound system is great and some channels have Dolby Sound system. But in BIGTV there are two channels which has lower sound which is Sahara Filmy and MTV rest of channels are OK and same lever sound. Free Indian Classifieds-Meramaal.com |
