RE: Dish Antenna Alignment procedure
one more question... is it safe to touch the dish / LNB when it is wet.. or when it is raining / Lightening...

secondly i m a bit confused... whether proper dish alignment can happen without an inclinometer / compass to measure elevation and azimuth

RE: Dish Antenna Alignment procedure
Well check the below answers
Q1 - As long as you have no leak points in the wire connections, it's ok to touch it when it's wet. But you better have second thoughts when it's Lightning.

Q2 - It's the practice, I did it without using a compass or anything my first time. Only thing is you need to know where your East is.

Let me know if you need more info !

RE: Dish Antenna Alignment procedure
Hi Sumedha and Mr Dish,
I rotated the LNB little by little after setting the orientation of the dish right. things improved. I have atleast 60% signal strength in all TPs and of the listed in the SETUP menu its all back to 70% to 79% strength. Signal quality is also above 70%.
I tuned the set-top box once abgain and got all the 168 channels.
This happened in the afternoon. It was the best position i could trample upon after a lot of trial and error in rotating the LNB.

One thing is sad that after 7PM in the evening the signal strength/Quality dropped to 35% in JAYA TV, HEADLINE NEWS, TEST-4 and few more. other DD channels are clear.

Is still the signal strength not solved by Dish?

BTW I live in chennai where supposedly the signal stren
gth should be the highest!

RE: Dish Antenna Alignment procedure
Well Kums, I also had that problem with Channels coming from Insat 4B. you may need to turn the dish a little upward, (lift the dish up) about half a centimetre and everything will be resolved.

Normally you don't get the same signal strength on all the TP's. At my home, I get signal strengths from 65 to 82 in different transponders. But this quite enough to receive crystal clear pictures unless there is a problem with the channels transmitted.

Try this out and let us know whether you were able get consistent signals from DD channels through out the day !
