HFCL Infotel to roll out IPTV services in Punjab in 3 months
CHANDIGARH: Telecom equipment manufacturer HFCL Group's flagship company HFCL Infotel will roll out its IPTV services in Punjab in the next three months that will allow customers to experience next generation TV entertainment. Besides, the company also hopes to launch GSM services in the state from the next financial year.

"As the centre has cleared new rules of IPTV, we now expect to launch our IPTV services in Punjab during the next three months. And in the first phase, we aim to have a subscriber base of 20,000," HFCL Infotel Chief Operating Officer, GD Singh told PTI.

HFCL Infotel has tied up with Smart Broadband Services. This tie-up would allow HFCL to use its infrastructure to launch IPTV services by way of rental arrangement. "By partnering with Smart Broadband, we would not need to spend huge amount of money on setting up our own infrastructure to support IPTV services. Now, we would be able provide this service by using its infrastructure on our network," he said.

Earlier his month, Smart Broadband in collaboration with MTNL has announced the launch of IPTV service for MTNL customers in Delhi. IPTV service allows subscribers to access digital TV signals through their landline telephone instead of traditional cable lines.

"IPTV service would allow customers to enjoy features such as ability to pause live television, access on-demand content with fast forward and rewind capabilities, Digital Instant and Scheduled Recordings," said Smart Broadband COO Kapil Dev.
