India-Sri Lanka ODI series fail to grab eyeballs
India-Sri Lanka ODI series fail to grab eyeballs
2 Sep, 2008 NEW DELHI: It was India’s first bilateral One-Day International (ODI) series win against Sri Lanka on the latter’s home turf. But despite being aired on two channels—Ten Sports and Zee Sports—the recently concluded India-Sri Lanka ODI series—Idea Cup—garnered low TRPs. According to data from television audience measurement agency Audience Map (aMap), the five matches played had TRPs of 0.56, 1.05, 2.04, 1.65 and 0.94, respectively. The data is for cable & satellite homes across India in the 4+ years age group. Of late, coverage for one-day cricket has been receiving lukewarm response, with the recently concluded Asia Cup and Kitply Cup bagging TRPs of 1.1 and 2.3, respectively. IPL earlier this year had an average rating of 4.7 (all-India C&S 4+ years’ audience according to TAM data). Many regard viewer fatigue from too much cricket as the chief reason for the low audience interest while the event’s concurrence with Olympics also played spoilsport. Mudramax president Chandradeep Mitra enumerates reasons for low TRPs: “It was not a well-marketed series. There was no hype built around it. Also, since India did not do well in the Tests, viewer expectations dipped. Thirdly, the platform (channels Ten Sports and Zee Sports) was not as strong as an ESPN or a Max.” http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/News...434148.cms |

Well I think ICL's next season also don't get more TRP than a saas-bahu serial.....
Failure is not an option. It is a privilege reserved only for those who try......!! |
