RE: Internet on TATASKY PLUS
We need to understand how exactly TATASKY are planning to make internet available.
About SKY UK broadband, I am currently using SKY broadband 8 MBPS. Actually SKY has many interactive application for which feedback from user is sent via phone line, hence STB needs to be always connected to phone line. So every SKY user has phone line. I think SKY decoded to use this same line to provide broadband. They have provided us secure Wi-Fi modem by which we can browse internet anywhere in house at 8 MBPS Now about TATASKY, what are their plans, if same as SKY UK, then they also would provide internet on our phone line, but which BSNL or TATA INDICOM? Also why only for TS+ users, are TS+ STB's have built in modems? If they are planning for Satellite internet, then for return path, special LNB's are needed, would such LNB's be provided? Many doubts , but lets wait for service to become official and if provided at cheaper rate, 512 Kbps is also sufficient speed for browsing, small downloads and low quality video viewing, so good move by TATASKY :party1:

I have only a single thought. Please take this into account, when making judgements. The DTH operators in India have been found wanting when it comes to providing "DVD Quality pictures". They have been found wanting in many scenarios (be it customer care or rain outage, I'm speaking not just about Big TV but about Tata Sky as well.), most importantly being that of providing adequate number of channels to cater to both national, international as well as regional tastes. To be quite frank, DTH services in India are still very much at its infancy. At this juncture when DTH is supposed to rewrite the rules and provide not a pseudo but a true alternative to cable wallahs, do you think its the right time for them to concentrate on services which absolutely dont require attention! (Why on earth do we need a slower internet connection from a service provider which doesnt even feature in the top list of ISPs!!! That too when broadband connection has been revolutionised at an all new level by BSNL! Why do we always have to be a fan of Tata Sky for whatever it does? Even if it seems blatantly unreasonable!) Sky is a reputed company and it has gone into providing the internet facility only after perfecting its TV channels and DTH services (proving HD channels just for a start). One cannot say the same for Tata Sky in India. |

RE: Internet on TATASKY PLUS
hd could be started in india.....but the company may face a huge loss as most of the people in india have only normal ctv...they do not have hd option in it....as u said my frnd uk has many hd but the fact is most of the people are rich and they can afford it.....but whereas in INDIA people search for the cheapest product.....due to huge competition in every sector of business many customers are benifitted...but in uk people are also rich & also there is very less competitor for a business & they have a heafty sum of money for a very cheap product......
we can see an example when plasma tv sets came to india the normal ctv distributors said that they emit a gas which is very harmful so normal ctv was successful....even if ts or other companies want to bring hdtv to india the peoples mind is not so to buy it as it would be really expensive this is the reason why hd is not coming to india....discovery channel is gonna come with its hd equipments...lets see how it becomes succesful...all the best for DISCOVERY channel:party2::party2: |

Yes I live in UK, and keep on posting in various sections as per my experience about DTH in UK & India (I have TATASKY in India). As I used SKY in UK, so I opted for TATASKY in India, and so far had no problems when ever used it. About being fan, yes I am, but not blind follower, things which I bad, I do criticise. About Internet connection on TS+, As now all operators are providing almost same channels, and due to govt ruling, they cannot tie-up exclusively with any channel, so every DTH operator is trying to add some other features to make their offering attractive. Internet by TS+ looks same thing. Now for low usage people 512 Kbps internet would be sufficient and at same time by this feature people those who don't have internet at home could also have it. This are all business tactics. Yes there are broadband services available, but for people who never used it (there are still many), for them it doesn't matter. About HD channels, etc; discussing that here will make thread offtopic, so lets avoid it, if you want open new thread and can discuss there. Here lets discuss and see other's view on "Internet on TATASKY PLUS" Zee Marathi in UK | svkworld |

RE: Internet on TATASKY PLUS
Well I want to say one simple line about Indian Broadband:
India's 73% people still using Internet with below 100 Kbps. BSNL is not available everywhere with Broadband features and we know their service is suck in Rural area where broadband down for 1 weeks as no expert people working with Broadband section. So I think if DTH provides then it will make big impact on Indian television and Broadband industry. I think this is a very good Idea as well. Also about the point about 512 speed, let me tell you that there are a LOT of people who still us dialup. My internet connection is also 512 kbps as that is what I can afford! So please don't trash the speed. This is actually good speed for a lot of people. Overall, I hope Big Tv and other are watching....... A good move by Tata Sky! RE: Internet on TATASKY PLUS
As frnd08 right pointed, the DTH industry in India is in its infancy, unlike Uk which is highly evolved. So it would be unfair to compare it with UK. My internet speed in UK was 11 MBPS
![]() . But anything faster is too expensive. I only paid 10 pounds for 11 Mbps which was around Rs 800 per month.
