 Dish TV Dealers

DUBAI - The MoE recently conducted raids against unauthorised Dish TV dealers in the UAE. The body has also issued directives to concerned authorities to clamp down on those selling these boxes.

The boxes are illegally imported from India and sold throughout the Gulf.

Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah police conducted similar offensives in their respective areas last March marking the largest actions against Dish TV dealers.

Mohammed Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Alshihhi, General Manager, UAE Ministry of Economy, said that stringent legal action will be taken against those caught violating the Ministry’s order, as piracy harms the competitiveness of the UAE, which ultimately reflects negatively on the national economy.

“Legitimate businesses such as E-Vision are greatly hurt by this kind of piracy. There is a wrong public impression that it is acceptable to acquire pirated entertainment because movie producers and studios profit a lot from them,” said Scott Butler, CEO, Arabian Anti-piracy Alliance (AAA).

I think people are to be blamed to. To save 5-10 rupees, they will buy from an illegal dealer. It is part of chalta hai attitude which is very wrong.

Well in Dubai, the cheapest package from E-vision is rs 600 per month which comes more than 7000 Rs for a year, not factoring the cost of installation. The package which comes with sports channels is more than Rs 1200 per month.

With Dish TV pay Rs 3600 per year for the highest package not including the cost of acquiring and installing a dish.

What will you choose?
