I wud say all are just marketing tactics to fool around customers....
I believe most of the guys will accept this..... Honestly saying you can't see any considerable difference between these two technologies.....

totally agree with u. unless adtv comes up with a component out option, we'll see no difference no matter what technology they use.

Absolutely, Even picture and sound quality is same in all whether MPEG 2 , MPEG4, or MPEG 4 DVB S2, Yes Mpeg 4 is better compression technique and only help broadcaster to put on more channels per transponder. But can't have any effect of Picture qiality.

RE: MP4 vs mp4 DVB-S2
MPEG & DVB are 2 different technologies.
MPEG is video coding standard, while DVB (along with ATSC in US) is transmission standard.
MPEG-4 increase compression capability so more channels can be carried compared to MPEG-2.

DVB-S is Satellite standard of transmission, while DVB-S2 is improved standard developed to allow transmission of HDTV.

At present the operators who claim to be having DVB-S2 with MPEG-4 are ready for future transmission requirement like HDTV & more channels and they would not need to upgrade their system, while all others who are not using it, may need to upgrade their systems to make it capable for future transmission standards.
