Re-paint old dish antenna
Hi
I have been using DishTV connection from 2004.
Now the dish antenna is corroded and completely rusted.

My question is, can I apply a normal enamel paint to stop further damage?

Perhaps the dish must be painted with special (Ku band) reflecting paints? I am not sure.
did any of you have this problem ?
What is the solution?

Thanks in advance

RE: Re-paint old dish antenna
No use doing that! Anyhow Dish TV Channels ( very many) are heavily pixelated. To add Dish TV is also claiming they will increase channels. With the same tech MPEG 2 hold good? How many channels can they compress into one TP? Even if they acquire more TPS, will they charge us less? If they charge more, ARE THEY GOING TO BE COMPETITIVE?
Hence with such questions in mind, it is better to switch to Airtel or Big TV instead!
So friend, there is no need to re-paint your old Antenna!

RE: Re-paint old dish antenna
Hi guys,
Thanks for the replies.

BTW I have purchased Big TV (South smart pck), for my peersonla use in my room. The old DishTV is for the main living area.

I must accept that the Video quality of Big TV is lot better in comparison to DishTV.
With my fair knowledge of MPEG standards, I am surprised. I know that MPEG4 and MPEG2 do not have any difference in terms of video quality. Of course the codec is better in terms of compression ratio.
Perhaps it is quality of the box, which is better for big TV (Hyundai make), where as DishTv is a Zenega box.

Do any of you have a different explanation?

RE: Re-paint old dish antenna
@santoshkumarp,

There is no problem of you repainting your dish. But take some action for the following matters.

1. Make sure you take out your LNBF before painting the dish.
2. Do not use gloss finish paint, always use mat finish paint.
3. Try to clean the rusted area poropely and use some under coating (anicorosive) before painting.
4. Try to use a dule colour as you paint.
