RE: SAMSUNG-SUN HD STB Pics
I didn't understood. If composit output is dummy and only HDMI output is working, How can we record the video?

RE: SAMSUNG-SUN HD STB Pics
I can record programmes using the composit out from the present STB
(I don't know whether "composit" is the correct word . the RED, YEllow, WHITE cable). I think if the HD STB has same cable out (3 colour), this can be connected to recording VCR. Then it is possible to record??

RE: SAMSUNG-SUN HD STB Pics
Yes, If u connect this composit to TV and if u r getting video in TV then you can record by using VCR with same composit output. And plz understand that composit output will very much work in all normal STBs. But in the case of HD STB, we can get Video signal from HDMI output only and composit output will not work as they made it DUMMY. They disconnected composit output like USB port in other STBs(Like BIG TV STB).

Thanks Sree. This is a very good/useful information. i.e. if recording of TV programme is required, HD STB is not suitable even though the STB has composit out.

RE: SAMSUNG-SUN HD STB Pics
Hi Sree

I have another point to clarify. From the pictures you have posted in other threads, I can see that the move shot is not actually in 16:9 mode.
It is actually 4:3 mode we need to adjust TV viewing mode to change this to 16:9 mode. From the available channels on SUn Direct, i think only DW Tv is only having 16:9 mode transmission. I thought HD chennels will have these mode. Basis think, I think only picture clarify is the advantage.

Regional movies channel is airing in 16:9 aspect ration from day 1. No doubt on this. It is getting Black shades on top and bottom but there is no picture streching. Picture size is perfect. Only NGC HD is in 4:3 ratio. But from Feb 1st, NGC HD also airing with 16:9 aspect ratio.

RE: SAMSUNG-SUN HD STB Pics
Thanks Sree for your clarifications.

I may consider subscribing to HD when I go to India during my next vacation. Only issue is whether I can record programmes or not.

REgarding the price, as per web site it will cost INR 9999 plus taxes (this includes one year HD subscription of ALL HD chls and MEtro pack).
What will happen thereafter. When they introduced HD, channel prices were INR 100 per channel/month.

Another question - once I place the order, how long it will take them to deliver the STB/install.

I am using big dish here in Gulf. I think same position/disch can receive the signal. Any info??

RE: SAMSUNG-SUN HD STB Pics
Kumar,

FYI..,

Recording of HD content is not possible with Samsung HD STB. And I don't know after 1 year how they will charge for HD content?

the dish should be in the same position of Normal Sun direct dish.
