Star's 3 Hindi channels to be available on RCN cable network in the US

MUMBAI: Star's three Hindi channels - Star Plus, Star Gold, and Star One - will be available on RCN’s platform across US from 30 November.

These channels will be available in RCN’s service areas of Boston, MA, Chicago, IL, Washington, DC Metro Area, Philadelphia, PA, and New York.

Star and RCN Corporation, US-based provider of all-digital television, high-capacity data, and voice services to residential, business customers and service providers, have signed a distribution deal for this purpose.

The three channels will be offered collectively ($21.95) per month as well as individually. Hindi general entertainment channel Star Plus is available for $11.95 per month while movie channel Star Gold and GEC Star One is priced at $9.95 each per month.

Star SVP distribution and sales and Star North American and European offices head David Wisnia said, “I have full confidence that RCN’s South Asian viewers will quickly take to the highly rated dramas, comedies, soaps, Bollywood movies and reality shows that have made Star India’s leading broadcaster.”

“The addition of these three Indian entertainment channels is only the first step in RCN’s robust expansion of international programming,” said RCN Corp SVP strategic external affairs and programming Richard Ramlall. “We are very pleased to partner with Star in bringing additional South Asian viewing choices to our customers.”

Recently, Star forged a deal with San Bruno Municipal Cable TV, the independent cable operation owned and operated by the City of San Bruno, California.
