STB 2 software updation

recently i have purchased big tv offers and i took the stb to uae. i was not aware that i should activate here in india. after technician in dubai installed the dish, lnb and connected the big tv stb , done some settting, STB 2 started updating the software through OTA. but the technician switched off the STB and switched on the stb. After that i am getting only the blank screen. Is there any way to do the software reset to get the original setting (there is a seperate thread in the forum for resetting the software if it gets corrupted during installation for the model STB 1 but i could not find for STB 2). Being in dubai i cannot ship the stb back and get new one or rectified from india since using this type of DTH serivce is illegal in UAE. Looking anxiously to get advice from the fellow members to solve the above issue. thank you in advance.

to update ur software do one thing
start you STB... as soon as it starts, press both ch+ and ch- button simultaneously on STB, now the light will glow green. Now leave the buttons.. and wait for some time, after that, your software wil be updated over the air.

If that doesn't help, then start ur STB, wait for some time for the black screen to appear and the light to turn green, now press power on ur remote to stand by the STB, now quickly press the following buttons in order on ur remote => RED RED BLUE RED POWER.
Now u'll get to the first installation screen... then scan ur channels and it will work.

Thnak you lady killer for your technical advice. I will try this once i get back to my home and post the result so that it could help other users of this forum.

One of the technician told that any operation like selecting the menu etc from stb remote is possible only if the signal is available unlike dish tv, tata sky where we can access the menu and other settings through remote even if it is not connected to the satellite. Is it true?

he is wrong, even if u remove the dish cord from the back of your STB, you can still browse through all the menus etc. but u cant play games without it...

Dear Friends,

My problem with STB-model#2 is something different. The dish & all perfectly mounted. The signal shows “Good”. When I try the “Next step: Channels scanning”, it scans for a while & stops to display the following error: “An error (1) has occurred. Check your installation”. From here, only the left key works & nothing else. On the first installation page, advanced signal parameters setting doesn’t appear. Strange enough, the signal shows good even if I remove LNB input from the STB. Kindly advise how I can solve this problem. There must be some way to factory reset/reboot the software. Thank you

Lady killer, i have tried the software installation as described by you by pressing the ch+ and ch - button simultaneously. for a brief period of time reliamce " download in progress " appeared and then it went to standby mode. does it mean the antennae is not pointed towards the correct direction. moroever none of the key is working (when i press the key stb ir detector indicator blinks but none of the menu's appearing).

Regarding the scanning of channels i tried as described you. half of the screen went white (something is happening).

as per you, irrespective of the signal or card menu should appear but that is not happening but the menu appeared initially when the technician started tuning but i think he screwed up my STB somehow. is there any way where i can get the menu back then i think it may solve the problem. thanks in advance for all help

i tried your second method by pressing red red blue red button and power on.
the following screen is showing.

i will give the signal parameters presently in my stb

LNB powering - ON
polarisation - horizontal
OL frequency -0
base frequency - 0
fec - 3/4
symbol rate - 0
can you please let me know what value to be put in these fields

base frequency - 12683
fec - 3/4

i think your STB is really faulty and cant be repaired... u'll have to replace it for sure

lady killer, after changing the desired settings still it shows signal strength is low. i will bring techincian this friday to adjust the dish elevation etc. thanks for all your info.
