STB Software Update and Power Failure

What will happen if power fails when the software is being updated on the STB? Do we need an UPS/Inverter for the STB during software update to prevent potential problems due to power failure?

the setup box will get hang if power failure happens. and it won't get repaired then u need to replace your stb so u need to connect ups or inveterter.

If there is a power failure and the software got curroupted while updating and STB not booting(only LEDs are coming), press Menu and the up key on the STB at the same time and then immediately press the Ok button on the STB,,

The STb will start the software update from the scrach, I learnt from the technician how came to resolve the issue for my STB

If the issue persist the STB will require to send to the Service Center. However above step will mostly resolve the issue.

Well no need to worry if Power failure during downloading because it only download then it install so your STB is safe with last updates and you can do it once again.

If your data is correpted then you need to do same as alamodein mention.

Yes mr Dish you are correct.

User can know of the update is downloading or its programming only in the initial software update.

Now the latest software update shows only 'Software updating, pleas wait' through the process the it reboots, so we can never know it downloading or programming. we can find out what happened to the STB only after restarting it.

Yes you are right and if new version is not take place then it download it again.

well my STB shows... no information available for software version..... its due to bad cable i think.. and thats why it shows 8% signal strenght and quality 85%.

No you will get same message untill new version come. We have last updates on 6th August 2008.

After updating my software manually i'm not able to boot my big tv set top box, after that i tried hard upgrade pressing keys, update started and finished successfully. Even after that no booting only the red light first , green light and all three light in low intensity glowing. Any solution for this.
