Sun TV and Dinamalar media war rages on badly

The media war between Sun TV and Dinamalar touched a new high after Chennai police registered an FIR against the channel's news editor based on a complaint from the Tamil daily.

Dinamalar accused the channel of trying to incite communal hatred using a cartoon published by the paper. The paper said that even after it tendered an apology for publishing the cartoon, Sun TV continued to broadcast old footage of protests by Muslims to incite communal hatred.

The FIR was registered last week based on a complaint from Dinamalar, Egmore. The case is registered under sections like 153 and 505 of IPC. Section 153 deals with promoting enmity between groups on ground of religion, race, place of birth and doing act prejudicial to maintenance of harmony. The other section deals with making/publishing statements with an intention to incite any offence against any other community or class.

Sun TV, owned by Kalanidhi Maran and his family and the market leader among Tamil channels, had been giving wide publicity for the protests by various Muslim groups against Dinamalar for publishing a cartoon on Prophet Muhammed.

The coverage by the channel on protests by Muslim groups against Dinamalar, a business rival of Sun Network's Dinakaran, was viewed as a continuation of its attacks against the daily.

Dinamalar too had been using all chances to hit out at Marans. It has been playing up the rivalry between Maran brothers and chief minister M. Karunanidhi. A supporter of Arasu Cable TV corporation, the newspaper has been airing its views against the monopoly of SCV, an MSO and a subsidiary of Sun TV Network.

according to me DINAMALAR is the best ever newspaper in tamil.see the other news papers dinakaran,dinathandhi.posting images of sexy cinema actress,the front page consists of loot,terrorism,rape etc....they are correct by going against those KD'brothers(kalanidhi & dayanidhi)

dinamalar is the worst , they aree brahmin oriented , i like dinathanthi

Dinamani from indian express is a best Tamil News paper ...
they won't publish unnecessary news ...
DinaThanthi is worst ... both Dinamalar and Dinakaran gives
more improtant to ads ...
