RE: Upgrade to MPEG-4 in September
Well Mr.Dish, this is really a good news that you have given us. I wish more and more international chs enter India.

@Dialog TV,

There are several exclusive international chs in India which are 100% commercial-free. They include BBC Entertainment, Ceebebies, MGM, TCM, Boomerang, Zone Reality, TV5 Monde, ABC Asia Pacific and Baby First TV(Coming Soon). These chs carry the actual South-Asian feeds and have no ads. Dont worry, Fox too will give the South Asian feeds to Sri Lanka atleast and I hope they give the same to Indian viewers as well. So dont always think that any international ch in India always has a "cheap" feed...!!

@ Dish
That is Dialog's decision. If Dialog want to save more money (which all businesses like to) they will wait and get the Indian feed. Indian feeds are mostly cheaper because they earn from advertising. Unlike Asian feeds, which rely solely on customer payments.

@ Roh_Style
I agree, but still most Indian channels show too many ads. That is how Indian cable and DTH are so cheap, because channels are cheap.
And also note that some of those ad-free Indian-based channels (BBC Entertainment, CBeeBies, MGM, TCM, Boomerang) are only available on specific networks. In those cases the DTH provider pays more to the channels in return for exclusive broadcast, and therefore increased demand and popularity.

RE: Upgrade to MPEG-4 in September
@Dialog TV,

Well yes Indian chs have too many ads and no Indian ch can go completely ad-free, otherwise they wont be able to survive in the Indian market, since no viewers would pay heavily to get the chs without ads. Infact people would rather prefer ads in chs in return for cheap prices...!! So the only way to keep the prices low for chs would be to include ads and it cant be helped..!!

But yes, coming back to point, I am saying that exclusive International chs in India have no ads. So yes, in India, we do have chs that have no ads and that too international...!!!

RE: Upgrade to MPEG-4 in September
Yes thats good, but as I said, I am not willing to pay extra. The current ads system seems to be OK for me. Only that TRAI needs to fix a particular time-frame for ads on pay chs atleast.

By the way, I am waiting for HBO Hits, HBO Family, HBO Signature and HBO Plus to enter India soon..!! Lets see if this wish of mine becomes true...!!
