I think Shakeel should be able to shed more light on this...... Shakeel: what do you have to say abt this? Looks tempting.

Well interesting guys!
It will be really worthy to see ( i mean to squeeze) more from the existing dish aet-up, like wireless, internet and many of the like. May be we need to connect one more lnb type devise and link it up with a different STB.

We await the Electonics and communication engineers to enlighten and guide us in this regard.

as far as I know IEEE 802.11 is some specification fro wireless LAN,, it can be found in laptop specifications,, ,

FROM WIKIPEDIA:::

, commonly known by the brand Wi-Fi, denotes a set of Wireless LAN standards developed by working group 11 of the IEEE LAN/MAN Standards Committee (IEEE 802).

The term IEEE 802.11 is also used to refer to the protocol specified in the original version of IEEE 802.11-1997, which is now sometimes called "802.11 legacy". For the application of these standards see Wi-Fi.

OK, I had just gone through it and found it very very intresting for a project work. But it is not much important to us here in india. Basically it it a "Wifi network catcher" with which u can pick up any wireless network around the specified range (also illegally). For eg: If there is a conversation going on between your neighbour and his friend on a cordless phone within his house you can catch this signal by the directional antenna shown. Also there in foregin countries they use wireless internet for their laptops, we can catch those signals also.
Also you can create your own wireless network within your area.

awais008 is right.

And I would like to add some more.

IEEE 802.11 is a group of standards that define Wireless LAN , which is commonly known as WiFi ( which stands for wireless fidelity )

This standard has three working substandards or drafts, known by their draft specification letter, like a b g & n

The engadget article shows us how to build an IEEE 802.11 tranceiver antenna. But it is useful only for WiFi internet access in India. We usually will not be able to use it for cordless phones as 450 MHz & 900 MHz are popular in India and the 2.4 GHz phones are miniscule in comparison.
