UTV Movies brings viewers World TV Premiere of Jodhaa Akbar

UTV Movies, the Hindi Movie Channel from the UTV Network will be premiering the biggest blockbuster of 2008 – Jodhaa Akbar on 15th August 2008 at 11:00 a.m., within 6 months of the movie’s theatrical release.

Released in February 2008, the movie stormed theatres worldwide with huge box-office collections. The movie was applauded universally and praised by critics as well for the performances of Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead. It also earned accolades for director Ashutosh Gowarikar for his excellent execution of the complex storyline.

Jodhaa Akbar is the story of Jalaluddin Mohammad Akbar, the greatest Mughal emperor to rule India, and Jodhaa, the fiery young Rajput princess, and their marriage which began as part of a political alliance and eventually turned into true love.

The channel will also, for the first time ever, showcase exclusive unseen footage from the movie which was not a part of the theatrical release. The unseen footage, spanning 34 minutes, would be introduced by Ashutosh Gowariker himself after the movie ends.

Along with the telecast of the movie, UTV Movies has also conceptualized an exclusive contest around the movie – “Azeem-O-Shaan Mulaqaat Contest”. Viewers can participate in the contest during the telecast of the movie, answer a few simple questions and the lucky winners would get to meet Ashutosh Gowarikar and members of the cast in person.

Launched on February 24th, UTV Movies has already premiered blockbuster movies on television like Aamir, Halla Bol, Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal, Aap Ka Suroor and My Name is Anthony Gonsalves and boasts of an enviable line-up which includes contemporary hit movies like Jannat and Race.
