Alright people. The top reason people come to this little website of ours is to get people's comments on how good is Dish TV. So here is a topic where I'm inviting all of you to post your comments and reviews on Dish TV.

I'll begin with my review.

I bought DishTV back in early or mid 2003 I believe. It was the only DTH service provider back then, so there was no real option for me. At that time we had to pay a lot to get channels since Dish TV was only starting out, and trust me a good lot in my family rioted at the idea of having Dish TV at home since they thought Cable was better since it was cheaper.

But we stuck with Dish TV since at that time it cost a solid Rs 8500/-. The picture quality was MUCH better from the conventional cable and the sound quality was just as good, after some time Radio Channels and many more video channels were added. We were happy with Dish TV.

During all this time too, Dish TV has not disappointed us, ever. We never have any problems viewing all the channels, except in the rains, which is probably the only thing I'd whine about personally, when there's rain, there's no signal. But I guess its inevitable until and unless we get a new type of Dish thats strong enough to stand by the showers.

Online Renewal has also made our lives easier, now instead of going to the dealer and paying him, we could just log on to our account on DishTVIndia.in and pay them.

So yeah overall it has been a pleasant experience, of course Dish TV did have its downs, it was too costly to start off. But over time they became cheaper. Then, a lot of channels weren't there, but were added. Even now, there are some channels that still should be added. We've not lost hope on Dear old DishTV yet though!

A lot of people have problems with DishTV, and I firmly believe it is DishTV's responsibility to keep its clients happy. But then there's another thing, people everywhere are not the same, 70% of times the complaints are aroused due to negligence of dealers in the particular area. Don't you just hate that? Stupid people ruining a company's rep, however it still is DishTV's responsibility and there's no doubt about that.

---

That was my review, please add yours! Refrain from posting two liners, try to be a bit extensive in your review so that people could know more.

Thanks!

Well... Mr. Channel.. r u sure u bought dishtv for 8500rs. b'coz since 2005 the rate of dishtv has gone down........ i took dishtv for 7500 in 2003 december.. and the very next month it came down to almost 50% .

i took dishtv for ...reason....... Cable operator was not giving me sports channels since 2002, so cut him off and bought Dishtv .

still i like it and am happy with it.. eventhough recently it has disappointed me in few things, but still it is the best.

I understand that they may lack in few things from other DTH operators, ,but we should understand that Dishtv is the First DTH operator.. so whoever comes next will learn from it and try to be above it.... now sun dth will be better qualitywise than TS also..

about their CC..

i just did not had any complaints on them for more than 2 or 3 occassions since 4 years..

dealer here is very good.. he pays the payments promptly before time and so no problem with that also..

RE: Write your DishTV review here
I bought Dish Tv in 2006 Oct from Sri Lanka where CBN Sat ( now Dialog TV) was closed by the govt.

At that time channels we were getting was good for the price we paid.

During this one year there are many changes happend to Dish Tv some are god and some are disspointing.

Good
1. They have incread the picture qulity of most of the channels like Star Movies etc...

2. EPG was updated for most of the channels which is very good.

3. There was no increment in subscription even though they add the channels like Satar Cricket

4. They are updating the software with more info like account info which is good. it would be great if they can give us a reminder in advance when the payments are due ( like we put alert on the different programs)

Bad

1. More concern on adding local/regional channels and not adding good international channels like HBO Channels, Hall mark, Fox, ABC

2. They have removed some good channels from the list. The most important one is Trace TV which is very very dissapointing. also ABC...

3. Some of the feeds are with bunch of commercials which is useless by viewing after paying for them.

4. Very late interms of adding new channels for example we were waiting for Star Cricket for a long long period after its launch

RE: Write your DishTV review here
Well this is a good start by Mr. channel and I am sure you guys will put your honest views for Dish TV.

Here is mine:

Well I took this connection on 1st March 2007 from 6 month Free viewing offer. Total cost of my connection was 4000 Rs. I am glad to have DTH conection because before this I don't have any idea about DTH, Dish TV or Tatasky. I read good things and bad things from this forum and than I took it.

I got my connection active within 5 hours and at the same day I started watching Dish TV. At first impression it was great for me to have many good channels and Active services. Some of them are best channels which I missed on my cable but thanks to Dish Tv who provides it. Most enjoyble things for me was Active sports which provides better features to see cricket matches.

I am now almost 8 month old Dish TV holder and I have no problems with them even removed some channels in past few days and not adding channels. I know better that Dish Tv will add more channels soon because Dish Tv's strong points is number of channels.

Because of Dish Tv and this forum Saveondish.com I am closer to many good friends and also have good information about DTH services. I am glad to see Dish TV improve themselves day by day and also they are doing good job.

Even they didn't added NDTV Goodtimes, Bindass and other channels I will use Dish Tv because they can capable to add more channels. At the moment Dish TV now started charging on Channels so channels came on platform slowly.

Overall Dish Tv is best for me.

RE: Write your DishTV review here
Well, we had to buy Dish TV as we really had no other option. Since there are no cable operators in our area we were relying on Free-to-air channels having a huge Dish Antenna. DTH is revolution because even in the villages and places where there is no cable, it made possible to watch channels like STAR Sports, ESPN.... Prior to DTH people from remote corners in India had no option of watching cricket when it was broadcasted exclusively on ESPN or STAR Sports. Now at least Mr. Dasminshi has made sure that Cricket is broadcasted on DD.. Hats-off to him.... To understand the importance of Mr. Dasmunshi one has to understand the pain of people from villages.

But now coming to DISH TV, I guess there are pluses and minuses. However when the minuses outnumber the pluses, it becomes a problem. Sure Dish TV had made possible viewing lots of channels in the remotest areas, however now there are options. Tata Sky, and pretty soon there will be Reliance, Bharti, Sun etc. So Dish TV has to improve.

Their customer service is one of the worst and the worst I have ever had. The Customer service personnel only note the problems and have a standard reply to all the complaints. The English speaking ability of the customer service is "very" bad. When they answer cusomer's calls, it seems like they are doing us a favour. So customer service is ridiculous and is horrible.

Though now they have improved their website, when it was launched initially it was terrible too. The website was not at all user friendly. The links were not working, there were no updates, always half information, .... Another thing to note is that, one has to undergo a crash course to understand their billing statements.... My Billing statement still shows a different set of channels than what I have ordered..... So they need improvement... and pretty fast too....

Constant upgradation/deletion of channels is another big problem. There is no consistency. When you really want to watch a channel, that particular channel is missing.... So stability is required to satisfy the customers... Dish TV needs a stable system as well as a stable list of channels.....

The scrolling text while watching cricket matches is another big problem. I understand piracy needs to be checked.. But why torture the customer who has paid for his/her signals.... if the scrolling text continues, we need to sue Dish TV....

So these are small matters, however are very important for a quality viewing. My main complaint about Dish TV is, they should deliver what they promise. It is not a common man’s problem if the company is running under loss…. They are in the business now for almost 5 years, it is high-time they deliver quality and be the best in the business… Today they are way off from reaching the best….. I pray to God and hope that Dish TV improves and becomes the best… till then the question mark against Dish TV’s ability to be in DTH and provide quality service will remain unanswered…..

RE: Write your DishTV review here
I bought my Dish TV connection last February (2007). At the time I was buying it, I was terribly depressed with the cable operator that I was getting the service. I was a fan of sports..mainly cricket. All I need was ESPN,Star Sports and Ten Sports (and Star Plus for my mom to watch Kyunki Saas Bhi Khabhi Bahu Thi). I thought Dish TV might be the best option at that time as CBN sat was very expensive and carried very few channels.

But after watching it I felt a big difference. Although I only needed sports channels, I missed Cinemax a lot which I had with the cable operator. I was getting annoyed with all the advertisements showing in the middle of movies and in AXN. (I am still annoyed with this one. Cable TV is something we pay...why should we pay to see commercials in the middle of something which will really break your concentration)

Dish TV had lots of pixelation issues those days and to make things worsen, I bought my 32" LCD. But as of now, Dish TV has progressed and we can see a good picture in many of the channels. But I think they still have the chance of getting improved when considering picture quality. Recently added Star Cricket is the only channel I hate to switched to due to the heavy pixelation in the recent past.

Overall I think Dish TV is good since they have the vast experience in the subject of DTH and satellite TV backing them. But they have a lot to improve to satisfy the customers. My thinking is they have to change their attitude towards competition. As long as they think they are the number 1 DTH service provider in India/South Asia, then they have no chance of getting improved.

Dish TV carries channels more than any other DTH provider in South Asia. But they are lack of Good International channels. I think it's the government who gets the blame for this as they only think of the economical side of the things but not the satisfaction of millions of viewers. Most of the people think it's the number of channels that matters..a BIG NO...it's the number of high quality high standard channels that matters. On the other hand adding more and more channels will deteriorate the reception of the channels as well. Dish TV should add more international channels rather than adding unpopular Hindi and Tamil channels.

If someone wants me to give a rating in a scale of 1 - 10 where 10 is the best I think Dish TV is between 6 and 7.

RE: Write your DishTV review here
I got dish tv in july 2007 for a mere reason that it was giving 170 channels instead of 100 channels compared to tata sky.

Now after bought that I am seeing a countinous decline in services. No of channels are reduced. Fake promises.

Dish tv is promoting so much abt its gaming ,active services,MOD and after so many months I have not found anybody satisfied with these services. I dont know why are they promoting these services when they are not upto the mark.

now in dish tv only sun and sun news from the sun network are available ,
that too free from DD DTH platform. others are not available .already we waited for a very long but no use .I think Dish Tv may not able
to telecaste sun network in futre and also no intrest to telecast ..

better , if we want Sun net work , we should say good bye to dish Tv and go for either TATA SKY or SUN DIRECT ..they are now concentrating the south indian people not like DISH Tv
