Zee Turner on offensive against Hathway, complaint filed against MD, associate

NEW DELHI: Zee Turner, a 74:26 joint venture between the Essel group and Turner International, has alleged in a press release that multi-system operator (MSO) Hathway has been “caught indulging in piracy”. The release claims that a “raid was conducted on 10 August by a court appointed commissioner in close coordination with the Madhya Pradesh police to “bust the piracy operations of one of the major Hathway operating partners, Bhaskar Net, based in Bhopal and Indore”.


“A complaint under section 379 IPC is lodged against managing director, Bhaskar Net, Dharmesh Goyel and Hathway MD and CEO K Jayaraman,” a spokesperson said.

When contacted, Jayaraman told Indiantelevision.com, “I have no idea about this incident.”

As per the release, in the last 10 days, Zee Turner has switched off Hathway’s major headends in Mumbai, Delhi, Jaipur, Aurangabad, Kolhapur, Bhopal and Indore due to non sign-up of an agreement with Ten Sports. The distribution firm further claims that it has created a special anti-piracy squad that was keeping an eye against piracy of Ten Sports signals.
